Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to be undressed to receive bodywork?
A: Some techniques require contact with your skin, but others can be done through clothing if you like. Cranio-sacral therapy, Theta Healing and Energy work can be done fully clothed. I also have a "magic massager" tool that allows me to work through clothing and perform Swedish like massage strokes while you are fully clothed. Please speak with Susan to address any concerns you may have...a treatment plan will be created just for your needs and goals!
Q: My last therapist hurt me and occasionally left bruises, will this happen with Susan?
A: At the start of your session Susan will speak to you about pressure. Explaining how everyone responds to pressure differently; and how if ANYTHING she does hurts, please let her know so the pressure can be adjusted...and conversely, if anything she does makes you think, I wish she would just go deeper in that area, let her know that too! That being said, if you are on blood thinners, a daily aspirin regimen or medication that makes you bruise MUCH more easily...PLEASE let Susan know, as this can absolutely affect bruising post session even with lighter pressure.
Q: Where are you located? I can't find your address on your web site.
A: Once you book your appointment, you will be given the address. Since sessions are done by appointment only, not having an address listed on the web site eliminates the possibility of your session being interrupted by someone without an appointment. My office is near the intersection of Route 29 and Egypt Rd in Mont Clare, PA. About 6 blocks from the Phoenixville area Produce Junction.
UPDATE: As of July 2020 I am temporarily working exclusively out of Reality Pilates Reformer, 241 Main Street, Royersford, PA. Appointments are still required.
Q: Tipping...should I tip, and if so how much should I tip for a massage?
A: Tipping is never expected, but is always appreciated as an expression of the clients gratitude.
Here's an article about tipping massage therapists with more information about tipping amounts and why.
Q: What can I expect from an Intuitive Coaching Session or Reading?
A: These sessions are most often held over the phone. At your appointment time Susan will call the number you have provided. She will ask a few questions about what you are needing coaching for or what motivated you to schedule a reading. You may be guided to take some relaxing breaths and relax while Susan "tunes into" your energy field. After that each session is unique...have a pen and paper handy to take notes and plan to not be distracted during your session...and have at least 10-15 minutes (more is preferred) to reflect on your session and integrate afterward.
Q: I want to purchase a "package" of sessions, can I share them with my spouse?
A: Yes, they are yours to use as you choose! You can purchase a 5 or 10 session package of massage/bodywork sessions and give some out as gift certificates for any occasion, share them with your spouse, child, parent, etc...just let Susan know you would like gift certificates for gift giving. Most people who purchase for themselves, just keep a credit in their account that is debited with each visit. Many families purchase packages so everyone in the family can schedule appointments at a discounted price without waiting for a sale/special which often have restrictions.
The exception to sharing is "package" ThetaHealing, CranioSacral bundles and coaching sessions, they are not to be shared with anyone...although you CAN gift an individual session or package of sessions. Due to the nature of coaching and some ThetaHealing programs, and craniosacral therapy protocols, the package sessions are designed to be cumulative; you tend to work deeper and are able to do more with greater ease with ongoing regular sessions.
Q: I want to try Pilates with you, but I never work out and don't know if I could keep up...what should I do?
A: The beautiful thing about a Pilates class at Reality is you are on your own reformer machine, and they can be adjusted to support your strengths and weaknesses...AND...everyone is lying down, and can't really pay much attention to the other people in the class. Everyone in a class works to their own ability, some people working less, others working more. In a typical class at Reality Pilates Reformer there may be someone in their 30's as well as someone in their 70's; some really fit tennis players in class with someone 100 pounds or more overweight. Pilates when taught by someone with a compassionate heart and open mind truly is an exercise for anyone!
